Who is this qualification for? Individuals requiring further foundation skills development to prepare for workforce entry or vocational training, including reading, writing, oral communication, learning, numeracy, digital literacy and employability skills at ACSF Level 3.
How long does it take? Flexible delivery – typically completed part-time over 6–12 months, depending on prior skills and RPL.
Can I use prior experience? Yes! Our RPL process can fast-track your completion.

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 14 units: 1 core unit and 13 elective units. We’ve made it super simple to customize your learning journey with these steps!
- Start with the Core: You’ll complete 1 core unit that sets the foundation for work-related learning strategies.
- Pick Your Electives: Choose 13 elective units as follows: up to 5 from Group A (Numeracy), at least 5 from Group B (Reading, writing, oral communication, learning and digital technology), and 3 units from any currently endorsed training package or accredited course other than FSK.
- Add Some Flexibility: Remaining units may be selected from the FSK training package or any currently endorsed training package or accredited course.
- Keep It Relevant: Elective units must be relevant to vocational pathways and not duplicate outcomes of already selected units.

- Each unit includes practical activities to enable you to develop and contextualise your knowledge and skills.
- Your tutor will give you a heads-up to enable you to prepare—no surprise assessments!
- Submit your portfolio before or bring it to the assessment.
- For face-to-face assessments, attendance is key—if you’re unwell, just let us know to reschedule.
