Principal’s Message

Welcome to GEM Sapphire Campus Sunshine Coast!

The Art of Makeup Society commenced August 2023 and after a review, was approved by GEM College to become a licensed campus on 1st July 2024 enabling us to bring nationally recognised training in entrepreneurship and all aspects of business management to our industry, and others seeking a career in business.

We established for the specific purpose of offering Professional Makeup and SPFX training in this growth industry, and it quickly became evident that our team had much more to offer. Our license agreement has expanded our scope, but not our focus.

Being a licensed GEM College campus means that we are supported by a quality educational management system, dedicated highly qualified and experienced staff and an online campus equipped with resources for over 30 qualifications ranging from Certificate III to Graduate Diploma levels. In addition, our clients are provided with access to over 1,200 micro-credential courses including over 500 personal and professional development “soft skills” and over 700 computing and IT specialty courses.

We are confident you will enjoy your study at the GEM College, Sapphire Campus as our personnel and our range of courses are offered with the emphasis on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment.

About Sapphire

The Art of Makeup Society has its training suite and registered office at 7/7 Turner Street, Beerwah.

Situated in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland, the Art of Makeup Society is co-located with GEM College’s Sapphire Campus.

Our training facilities are second to none. Our light filled, immaculate training studio is designed to provide a stimulating learning environment and ensure your comfort. Our facility is fully equipped and resourced with quality products.

Situated within walking distance of the train station and just 6 minutes’ drive from Steve Irwin’s famous Australia Zoo. The Beerwah township offers an impressive variety of retail outlets and service providers including a new medical hub recently opened opposite our training campus.

GEM College’s boast of “global resources and local focus” enables the Art of Makeup Society to bring to its clients “pracademic entrepreneurial training”. It is practical. It is academic. It is designed by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs.

Non-accredited Short Courses

The full suite of ASQA approved academic courses offered by GEM College, from Certificate III in Business to Graduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership are being offered through the GEM College Sapphire Campus.

All courses are available online, with comprehensive resources and ‘intensive’ face to face Zoom classes weekly for those who’d like the extra support. All delivered by highly qualified educators, trainers and assessors.

Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Registration

GEM College of International Business (trading as Workright Australia ®) is registered by the ASQA as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) National Code 0366. We have an unblemished record of quality delivery and compliance, as is evidenced by a history of positive outcomes. These results are evidenced in the following:

  • Our most recent ASQA Certificate of Registration, which can be seen here;
  • ASQA Letter regarding renewal of registration dated 18 June 2019, which can be seen here;
  • ASQA report regarding our renewal application audit (29 and 30 October 2014), which can be seen here; and

Nationally and Internationally Recognised Qualifications

The Australian Skills Quality Authority has registered GEM College of International Business as a RTO to deliver nationally-recognised, competency based training, and to issue academic parchments designating various qualifications to GEM graduates.

The nationally recognised qualifications, that are approved by the Australian Skills Quality Authority to be offered by GEM College of International Business, are listed on the Qualifications Page. While our key focus is on equipping entrepreneurs and professionals through our Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Graduate Certificate programs, we also have entry level courses at lower levels, including those aimed as Learners who have recently entered the workforce, and Team Leaders at Certificate III level.

GEM College of International Business’s International Liaison Officers are currently aligning qualifications, and mapping competencies, offered under the Australian Skills Quality Authority with those that are accredited/registered training under the South African Qualifications Authority and The Philippines’ Technical Education and Skills development Authority (TESDA). Approved Providers in those jurisdictions which align themselves with GEM College of International Business, will be able to offer dual qualifications.

About Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is a spectacular region in Queensland, Australia. It is known for its pristine sandy beaches, waterways, hinterland and appealing historic villages scattered throughout the region.

The Sunshine Coast stretches for over 100kms and lies within a UNESCO Biosphere Corridor which promotes sustainability and environmental protection.

It is the only place in Australia to have three UNESCO Biosphere Reserves sit side by side being the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Great Sandy Biospheres.

There is much to see and do on the Coast! You can be surfing at the beach one minute and relaxing at a hinterland café enjoying locally sourced ingredients the next!

The Sunshine Coast is only an hour’s drive from the capital city of Brisbane. As well as the Brisbane Domestic and International Airports, the Sunshine Coast Airport is centrally located in Marcoola, just 10kms north of Maroochydore. There are regular flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Auckland (seasonal). The Sunshine Coast is also well serviced with buses and trains, as well as taxis and private transport providers.

The University of the Sunshine Coast is situated at Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast and CQ University Sunshine Coast Campus is located at Noosaville. There is also a number of TAFE Campuses in various locations across the coast as well as many other training organisations. The Sunshine Coast welcomes local, national and international students to a diverse range of study options.

The Sunshine Coast will also be a co-host city for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032, with 4 key venues and nine proposed Olympic and Paralympic events. There are a number of major sporting events held annually on the coast including the Mooloolaba Triathlon, the Noosa Triathlon and the Sunshine Coast Marathon.

An array of water sports, river cruising and fishing opportunities abound from north to south across the Sunshine Coast as is family fun days out like Aussie World and Australia Zoo. Festivals include the Gympie Country Music Muster which is held annually and the Woodford Folk Festival which is a music and cultural festival commencing in late December each year with approx. 125,000 patrons attending each year.

Westfield’s Sunshine Plaza located in Maroochydore is the largest shopping mall on the Sunshine Coast and offers an abundance of retail, dining and entertainment options. Markets are popular with the locals and tourists alike and are held regularly in numerous locations around the coast including the famous Eumundi Markets.

There is something for everyone on the Coast! There is no shortage of creative talent and artistic flair on the Sunshine Coast so all are welcome to explore the art gallery trail around the coast and hinterland, and for the nature lovers, explore one of the well signed National Parks including Kondalilla National Park near Montville, Noosa National Park or the Glasshouse Mountains National Park. Experience breathtaking beauty and tranquility exploring the Noosa Everglades which is one of only two everglades’ systems in the world. It is in the upper reaches of the Noosa River and is known as the River of Mirrors due to the remarkable reflections in the water.

There are walking and bike trails scattered around the coast and the popular Blackall 100 race is a popular annual event. The magnificent trail takes you across the Blackall Range on the Sunshine Coast hinterland, experiencing subtropical rainforest, picturesque waterfalls and much more.

Of course, there is a myriad of culinary delights from fine dining to international fare to fish and chips. You can even order fresh prawns straight off the trawler at the fish markets. There are over 900 producers around the Sunshine Coast so there is an abundance of local produce. There is also the well-known Spirit House restaurant and cooking school situated in Yandina which is very popular with all age groups. You can sample a craft beer from one of the coast’s many craft breweries or visit a winery to sample a fine wine.

‘The traditional country of the Kabi Kabi People of south-east Queensland is along the Sunshine Coast from north of Brisbane to the Gregory and Isaac Rivers south of Bundaberg. Their land takes in the eastern part of the coastal ranges including the Glasshouse Mountains and the Mary River valley which flows from the Conondale Ranges to the sea near Maryborough.’
